Clinical Supervisor and Psychotherapist

"I am writing this review to express my deep appreciation for my exceptional therapist, Talia Cohen, at Wildflower. In my professional capacity as a psychiatric provider, I have encountered numerous therapists, but Talia stands out as the best of the best. Talia possesses unparalleled clinical knowledge and a remarkable depth and range of psychotherapy skills. Her proficiency far exceeds that of any other therapist I have ever met. Beyond her clinical expertise, what truly sets Talia apart is the nurturing space she creates for her clients. It is warm, inviting, safe, and permeated with empathy."

As a psychotherapist, I am constantly humbled and honored to be given the opportunity to support those who are looking to create and achieve positive, sustainable change in their lives, to find purpose, and to reconnect to a life full of meaning. I believe that out of struggle comes strength, growth, and acceptance, and I aim to promote these inner resources by unconditionally supporting you in accomplishing your goals. Therapy is a journey of self-discovery, healing, and growth, and through our work together, you will gain a deeper understanding of yourself, develop and learn new tools and approaches, and ultimately reconnect with your inner capacity to meet life with strength and flexibility and to achieve long-lasting change.

I recognize and honor the courage and resilience it takes to be vulnerable, to face life’s challenges, and to engage in self-reflection and exploration. In my practice, I work collaboratively and flexibly with my clients to meet their needs and to accomplish their goals, taking the time to build a genuine relationship, which I believe is the foundation and beating heart of successful and sustainable change. I use compassion, humor, and empathy to create a warm and accepting environment and trusting partnership where together we can navigate the hardships that life brings and where both growth and healing can occur. I take an active approach, providing a safe space to gently explore current ways of thinking and relating to clarify what may have served you well in the past and may now function as an obstacle to moving closer to live a fuller life. I integrate evidence-based practices and coping skills to support you feeling empowered and grounded along your journey towards meaningful change.

It is a deeply fulfilling privilege to be a member of Wildflower’s Supervisory Team in addition to providing psychotherapy services to my clients. Supervision was an invaluable experience for me, and it is my honor and goal to be able to provide the same for other emerging clinicians. As a supervisor, I aim to provide guidance and support, all the while promoting my supervisees’ inner resources and intuitions as they grow their professional identities. I am drawn to taking a holistic approach as a supervisor, providing care, respect, and compassion as I take into account the individual and ever-evolving changes as my supervisee continues to develop— meeting them where they are at in their professional journey.

I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Communications and Criminal Justice from University of Wisconsin-Madison and received my Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work at the University of Chicago School of Social Service Administration. I have provided both individual, couples, and group therapy to those facing a diverse range of concerns, including anxiety disorders, depression, perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, grief and loss, trauma, fertility challenges, relationship challenges, and life transitions. I am trained in treating mood and anxiety disorders using evidence-based practices such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Radically Open Dialectical Behavior Therapy (RO-DBT), Narrative Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing (MI), along with compassion- and mindfulness-based techniques, and really enjoy working with anxiety-related disorders, men, as well as new parents.
