Our experiences shape us, from our upbringing to our relationships with others. At times, these experiences can develop unhealthy habits and traits that we use to cope with the stress that surrounds us. I recognize that life and the struggles that come with it can be overwhelming. However, once we reach a point where we want change, this creates the opportunity to make the steps to change. This is where healing begins, which is a very special and beautiful journey that I am happy to be a part of with you.
I strive to provide safety, warmth, and authenticity in the therapeutic space, and I see you as the expert in your life. I will meet you where you are and value you and your experiences. My therapeutic approach is non judging, collaborative, and encouraging. I recognize and affirm intersectionality, LGBTQIA+, multiculturalism, racial identity, sexual identity, and gender identity. My overall goal is to help you reach your goals, provide support, and invite you to challenge yourself.
I received my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Illinois State University and my Master’s degree from DePaul University, specializing in clinical mental health counseling. In my previous work, I had the opportunity to provide service in many client-focused roles, spanning from youth development, post-secondary education, and community outreach. My counseling experience includes working with individuals, groups, and families in community mental health and residential settings who struggled with anxiety, depression, life transitions, grief, trauma-related issues, personality disorders, substance use, and child-welfare involvement. My educational and professional training has allowed me to work with people from a variety of backgrounds and experiences. It has also cultivated my competencies, self-awareness, and passion for working with clients in therapy. I tailor my approach based on your needs as a client, while utilizing mindfulness, cognitive behavioral practices, and working from a trauma-informed lens. I look forward to hearing your story and working with you through your journey.
