Dance/movement therapy utilizes movement to promote the emotional, cognitive, and social wellbeing of individuals. This modality views the body and mind as deeply interconnected. Dance/movement therapy posits also that much of the communication that occurs in therapy is nonverbal, and explicitly helps bring that awareness into sessions.
Dance/movement therapy has evidence supporting its efficacy with individuals, couples, families, and in group settings. The modality is very flexible and allows treatment to be tailored to the specific needs of each client.
