Body Image
The culture we live in fuels discontentment with our bodies. At every turn, we are inundated with messages about how our bodies should and should not look, perniciously tying these notions to lovability, worthiness, and belonging. The relational, emotional, physical, spiritual, and sexual consequences of the body shame people endure can be tremendous and long-lasting.
We can help you dismantle narratives that may hinder your ability to love yourself and find new ways of relating to your body that are based in radical acceptance and self-love. We recognize and affirm that healthy bodies come in all shapes and sizes and that all bodies deserve love and care. We also recognize that struggles with body image may be accompanied by other issues that call for empathic attention in psychotherapy. These may include eating disorders, self-esteem and self-worth issues, problems with sexual functioning and satisfaction, identity issues, relationship conflict, and self-harm.
