Injury, illness, and disability may give rise to an identity crisis, creating existential questions such as: How can I live a meaningful life given my condition? This is often accompanied by intense grief which can feel confusing and upsetting.
Our therapists call on evidence-based approaches to help clients manage these difficult experiences. Most importantly, you will find us to be compassionate and caring clinicians who will seek to find solutions that are tailored to your needs. Here are some of the ways we can help:
- Learning mindfulness-based strategies to manage acute or chronic pain
- Dealing with the impacts of illness on your relationships, roles, and routines
- Preventing illness by helping you make needed lifestyle changes to support physical, mental, spiritual and emotional wellbeing
- Learning coping strategies to effect and maintain emotional health during the experience of medical illness
- Addressing the complex feelings, including grief and loss, following difficult medical diagnosis, throughout treatment, and after recovery
- Learning to maintain a positive, hopeful outlook and manage stress levels in everyday life
- Coping with the impacts of aging
