Self Esteem
Self-esteem is how we experience our sense of worth and value, and essentially how much we like and respect ourselves. It impacts our sense of identity, level of confidence, competency, and a general feeling of belongingness. Self-esteem is at the very core of our sense of who we are and our interactions with the world around us.
An individual with an adaptively high sense of self-esteem is not completely free of fear, hesitancy, or doubt. However, these feelings and experiences are not paralyzing or limiting in the same way they may be for those who experience low self-esteem. Self-esteem can both inform what we choose to do and what we choose not to do.
At Wildflower, we support clients whose self-esteem has become problematically low in various areas of their lives. Perhaps you have noticed that making decisions feels more challenging and find yourself undermining and questioning your opinions, thoughts, and ideas. You might experience difficulty with socializing and forming relationships due to negative comparisons and judgments that creep in. Expressing personal needs or setting boundaries may feel out of reach. It can become difficult to pursue valued goals and dreams when experiencing low self-esteem.
We work with our clients to address underlying shame as well as other emotions and experiences that impact confidence and self-worth. We help clients gain strategies for strengthening their relationship with themselves while challenging unhelpful and limiting beliefs.
Psychotherapy at Wildflower is a powerful means of cultivating a greater sense of worthiness, authenticity, and self-trust.
