What inspired you to pursue a career in healthcare?
My own life experiences, both positive and negative, have taught me so much about what it means to protect your mental health. While in my undergraduate career, I majored in criminology with a minor in applied psychology. I had plans to pursue the field of forensics. However, after taking victimology and learning of the disparities of the criminal justice system, I found my passion in psychology and healthcare. I hope to help guide BIPOC and the queer community towards protecting their mental health.
What is your motto or personal mantra?
My personal mantra changes based on what I am going through in my life. I found that having a new mantra that models my growth helps me keep moving forward. At the moment, my mantra would be, “Your best will always be good enough”. It has gotten me through many tough moments of low self-confidence, and I am grateful to my partner for reminding me of this every day.
What are your favorite self-care activities?
I have been a deep lover of movement and music my whole life. I love dancing to modern, hip-hop, musical theater and jazz. I enjoy learning various instruments like the ukulele and the guitar. It helps to keep my body and brain moving when I am in need of a good push! When I want a more relaxed activity, I like to watch movies/shows or play cozy video games!
